Welcome, I’m so glad you’re here!
I’m Rachel ~ the girl behind the Stone Cottage Home blog!

I grew up in the gorgeous wide open Texas countryside with my large family, vegetable gardens, my beloved cottage garden flower beds, & lots of animals. I’m dreaming of country living again some day!
I love the Lord Jesus Christ & marvel at the endless love & grace He pours on my life daily. I invited Him in my heart as a child, to cleanse me from my sin, & to become my Lord. From that day our relationship has grown ~ my sinful stubbornness & pride have made this a slow process, but His faithfulness in molding me according to His perfect plan continues.
I’m so grateful for the ultimate sacrifice He made in giving His life for mine that I might live for Him now & with Him in eternity!

~ Our Story ~
After waiting, praying, and more waiting… the Lord brought Matt across my path on a camp out with my church family. We hit it off right away, enjoyed canoeing & watching the sunset. Before the camp out ended he was finishing my sentences! We courted long distance the following year & enjoyed gardening, hunting, & cooking whenever we were together. On my birthday that year Matt asked me to take a walk at sunset to my favorite hillside hay field. There he asked me to be his wife ~ I said yes! Sunset remains a special time of day for us.

Our first year we spent in a cozy townhouse apartment in Texas, the next year we moved out of state. In the summer of 2018 we bought our first little cottage~style home built in the 60’s & began our journey as homeowners!

~ Cultivating the Art of Home ~
A home is more than four walls, seasonal decor, and DIY projects.
Home is practical: meal time, laundry, cleaning, scheduling, managing…
Home is intangible: welcoming, cozy, refreshing, relaxing, a created atmosphere…
Home is a haven where we are loved, we love others, we are restored, inspired, and we grow as a person. These elements/arts of home enable us to go and reach others for Christ. My heart is to cultivate these arts of home.
My heart’s desire in our home (wherever that ends up being) is to create, with the Lord’s help, such a haven for our family. Someday, perhaps, a little farmhouse in the country may become more than a dream. For now we’re enjoying this season & fitting as much country living into this space as we can!

~ Blog Purpose ~
I believe no matter where you live, what your budget is, or what your skill set happens to be, every home ~ your home ~ can be a haven for you & your family. You are invited to join me in creating such a sanctuary for our families!
Through this blog I hope to encourage, support, & inspire you in loving & serving your family as you cultivate the art of your home.

Please allow us to share the skills the Lord & others have blessed us with. Let’s cultivate the home arts one remodel and DIY project at a time at a time!
I’m anticipating getting to know all of you better as we take this lovely journey together!
Warmly,
Rachel
